“John, Mary and Jeff, in hiding, wait to scare the Martians away.” Well that was easy! I love the artwork in this old comic strip from ‘The Children’s Wonder Book in Colour’ (1948) but the story needs some work!

Space travel My Little Golden Book style. From ‘My Little Golden Book About Travel.’ Illustrations are by the legendary Tibor Gergely, who created iconic images for more than seventy Little Golden Books including The Little Red Caboose, Tootle the Engine and Scuffy the Tugboat.

‘Lost.’ I painted this in 1990, in a mad late night session. There’s no doubt it is badly painted but its amazing how much I didn’t worry about that at the time. I didn’t even have to try…I just stood in front of the canvas and out it splurged. I wish I could do that these days.
