This song is so old even I forget its origins, but it goes something like this: Lo Fi Groovy first appeared on Permanent Evolutions (2005), but the song dates back to 1998-99. It was meant to be on the first album The Inevitable but the multi-track master (a Sony mini disc) became corrupted and I lost everything on it. All I had left was a rough mix on a cassette tape.
For the version on Permanent Evolutions I used the cassette recording mixed with some new instrumentation over the top. The version you hear here is the original raw cassette tape mix without any of the extra stuff. Lo fi indeed!
There was even some internet chatter about DJ Shadow sampling it for his early 2000’s live shows, but I don’t believe that. It’s more likely that he happened to use similar ‘grooveboxes’ that were all the rage in the late 1990’s.
Oddly enough, for all its shambolic origins and genuinely lo fi nature, Lo Fi Groovy is by far the band’s best selling song.

Very proud that All India Radio’s video Rippled won the SoundKILDA Audience Award at the 2012 St Kilda Film Festival last night! Given the stiff competition, we are extremely pleased.
My band All India Radio is launching our new album through crowd-funding website Pledgemusic and we want you to be a part of it! We are offering some brilliant exclusives (if I do say so myself!) including the chance to have the band write a custom song for you AND to have my good friend Steve Kilbey (space rock legends The Church and writer of the magical hit ‘Under The Milky Way’) sing on it for you! We are also offering naming rights to songs and even the album title itself, limited edition vinyl, and loads more.
This one hasn’t been available for a few years and will most likely disappear again soon, so snap up it while you can. The songs are taken from the recording sessions for our 2009 album ‘A Low High’
